Ardbeg is without a doubt the peatiest and smokiest of all the Islay malts with the use of peat playing a pivotal role in its production. Named 'World Whisky of the Year' in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2009 Ardbeg Uigeadail (pronounced 'Oog-a-dal') takes its name from the mysterious loch which supplies the peat-laden water used to make Ardbeg. Corryvreckan takes its name from the famous whirlpool which lies to the north of Islay where only the bravest souls dare to venture. Swirling aromas and torrents of deep peaty peppery taste lurk beneath the surface of this beautifully balanced dram. A deliciously deep powerfully peaty and wonderfully wild whisky – Ardbeg Corryvreckan is the epitome of ‘the untamed spirit of Islay’. Heady intense and powerful on the nose a collision of waxy dark chocolate warm blackcurrants sweet vanilla and spicy cloves is suggested. Deep peppery and chewy complex flavours of tarry espresso coffee bitter almonds dark fruits and star anise feature on the palate and linger long on a smoky finish.
