92 points “Very fresh and bright with strawberry mineral and flower aromas that follow through to a medium body fine and polished tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Harmonious. Beautiful second wine. Hard not to drink now.” – James Suckling
The Ségla 2014 is a fashionably chic and immensely modern Bordeaux. This delight is the second wine of the Chanel-owned Margaux Château Rauzan-Ségla. Jancis Robinson described it as “very winning” comparing it to the 2005 and flagging it as “GV” meaning good value.
This wine is a stunning introduction to an exceptional château that delivers year in year out. It’s packed with sweet crème de cassis wild strawberry ripe black cherry raspberries brambles cedar tobacco new oak spices graphite and delicate violet florals but also has intriguing notes of umami mushroom and savoury game. Perfect on its own but it’s also marvellous with roast lamb steak and chips or chipotle and black bean tacos.
After a muted reception at En Primeur the critics have been surprised and incredibly impressed with the quality of the 2014 Bordeaux vintage from bottle demonstrated by many upscores. Expert Antonio Galloni said that “the finest 2014s are utterly magnificent and well worth seeking out.”
