Founded in 1986 Vacu Vin is the original Wine Saver. Bernd Schneider was so repulsed by the taste of spoiled wine that he and his brother set about developing a way to longer preserve opened bottles. Their idea was simple – to extract the air from the bottle using a rubber stopper and a vacuum pump in order to slow the oxidation process. That simple idea is now used in over 35 million households in more than 85 countries around the world.
This gift pack contains one vacuum pump and two rubber stoppers. Simply place the reusable stopper in the bottle and extract the air with the Wine Saver pump. A small “click” sound alerts you that you’ve reached the optimum vacuum level. You can then return to your wine at a later date.
To further slow the oxidation process we also recommend refrigerating the open wine; obviously reds will need be removed from the fridge and allowed to return to serving temperature. With these simple steps an open bottle can last for about 7 to 14 days.
Not suitable for sparkling wines or particularly old and delicate fine wines.
