92 points "Elegant red fruit profile with herbs as a backdrop and firm, crunchy acidity. A nice refined long finish." Decanter 2023

With a Silver award in both WineGB Awards 23 and International Wine Challenge 2023, this new release of Rosé Vintage 2020 from Chapel Down is sure to be corker. This Rosé Reserve is made from 85% Pinot Noir grape, 12% Pinot Meunier and 3% Early Pinot Noir with maturation taking place on fine lees in tank for six months before a further eighteen months ageing on lees in the bottle before release. This fine and fragrant rosé sings with wild strawberries, cherries, and redcurrants alongside nuances of lemon and shortbread with an elegant crisp, fresh palate and fine mousse. It’s delightful as an aperitif or paired with light pasta dishes such as crab linguine or spaghetti vongole or classic summer fruit desserts like Eton Mess and summer fruit pudding.

At Chapel Down, Pinot Noir is the second most important grape variety for traditional method sparkling wine, behind Chardonnay. The Pinot Noir grape variety makes up approximately one third of all the area under vine in the UK and constitutes 38% of the vineyard area in Champagne. Many wine regions grow Pinot Noir to use in red winemaking, but at Chapel Down they use it exclusively for traditional method sparkling wine and in their rosé still wines.

Established in 1977, Chapel Down is one of England’s leading and largest wine producers and the winner of countless international awards.
