Craft Beaujolais is simply thrilling and one of our go-to wines from spring to autumn and especially during barbeque season.
Château de Grand Pré can be found just off the road between Fleurie and Morgon. Here Romain Zordan is producing some truly exceptional Gamay. He makes the kinds of organic and natural wines he likes to drink i.e. fresh precise and pure reds using very little sulphur. And that’s exactly what this rich and powerful Morgon is. Bristling with raspberries cherries peaches smoke and crushed rocks it’s just effortlessly cool. The tannins need a little time to soften so you could either tuck it away or serve it alongside something meaty. It was highlighted as a GV wine meaning ‘good value’ by the experts at Jancis Robinson’s Purple Pages who noted that it has “all the signs of a long life ahead.”
