94 points, “Blackberry notes on the nose, with some herbal perfume touches too that are so appealing. Smooth and softly textured, with chalky nuances and grippy black cherry, strawberry and blackcurrant leaf aspects giving structure and body. Succulent and juicy with mouth-watering freshness. Great vibrancy and drive with life. Super approachable with the same vein of refinement and charm that Figeac does so well.” – Decanter

93 points, “The 2019 Petit-Figeac is a fabulous second wine. Bright and effusive, the 2019 is positively stellar. This blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot exudes class. Sweet floral and spice accents lift a core of pliant fruit in this engaging Saint-Émilion. The 2019 is flat-out gorgeous.” – Antonio Galloni’s Vinous

The second wine from Château Figeac is too often overlooked. But do so at your peril.

This is a Bordeaux Château at the top of its game, so the Grand Vin sells out rapidly at En Primeur, making it exceptionally hard to come by. But Harvey Nichols has secured a handful of the estate’s compelling second wine, which has a velvety texture and delicious roasted character. Brimming with black cherry pie, redcurrant jelly, autumn leaves, sweet floral notes, crème de cassis, walnuts, cigar, plum crumble and hedgerow blackberries, this should not be missed.

Château Figeac is an ancient Bordeaux vineyard, able to trace its winemaking credentials back to Roman times. The Manoncourt family took over this Right Bank estate in 1947 and although it took time, in recent years – under the watchful eye of Manager Frédéric Faye – they have pushed this Premier Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion into the fine wine world’s upper echelon.
