90 points “The 2016 Clémentin de Pape Clément has a medium to deep garnet-purple colour with crushed blackberries cedar chest and allspice on the nose and new leather unsmoked cigars and cassis in the background. Medium-bodied and finely crafted with a good core of delicate black fruits it has a plush frame and a spicy finish.” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

90 points “This is good with real weight and depth while still being approachable. There's a touch of heat on the finish but there's a lot to enjoy in this wine. Flavours of blackberry liquorice and dark chocolate stick to the gourmet edge that Pape Clément is renowned for. An excellent job of showcasing the Grand Vin.” – Decanter

Clémentin de Pape Clément is the second wine from one of the most famous estates in Pessac-Léognan. In a vintage rated “extraordinary” for the appellation by the experts at Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate it’s a red that’s not to be missed. Dark and gastronomic it gives a glimpse of the Grand Vin at a fraction of the price.

According to the Financial Times “Château Pape Clément could be Bordeaux’s greatest comeback. This historic estate in the Graves region experience what many experts perceived as a drop in quality in the 1980s but it has had a resurgence and is now one of Bordeaux’s most highly rated wines.”

This is one of the oldest of Bordeaux’s Grands Crus and under the watchful eye of Bernard Magrez Château Pape Clément is on a consistent run of form that is elevating this estate to superstardom. Pape Clément is located only a couple of miles west of First Growth Haut-Brion which elevates its cachet still further.
