Winemakers Duncan Lloyd has produced a real gem with this Shiraz, arguably the traditional grape of McLaren Vale and also Coriole's flagship variety. It’s also vegan and vegetarian friendly, so it’s a great one to serve to guests.
The 2019 Estate Shiraz shows abundant fruit flavours that Coriole's 50-year-old vineyards provide with aromas of mulberry, blackberry, chocolate and plum. The palate is bright and full bodied with succulent tannins and great concentration of dark-berried fruit. A classic example from a superb vintage.
The 2019 vintage at Coriole had dry weather, resulting in one of their smallest vintages ever. Yields were down, particularly with Shiraz and Cabernet, but the wines show impressive depth and balance. It’s been made in the traditional manner; fermented in open tanks and hand plunged before being matured in French oak hogsheads.
