Forrest Wines – a member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand – was founded just outside Renwick in Marlborough by John and Brigid Forrest a pair of doctors who turned their skilful hands to making wine. Nowadays their daughter Beth (who is also a Bachelor of Science) helps out too. Together this family are on a crusade to make full-flavoured dry wine with reduced alcohol.
The Doctors’ Sauvignon Blanc is an incredible piece of innovation and experimentation. But the magic happens in the vineyard not in a laboratory with chemicals or genetic engineering. The Forrests slow the vines’ ability to make sugar but the grapes retain their intense flavour. So now you can enjoy a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc at a much lower strength.
