Inspired by the colour and rugged beauty of the distillery’s Highland home, The Glenrothes 42 Year Old single malt whisky has developed over decades in oak. The Glenrothes 42 Year Old was bottled in 1980, and what emerged from those barrels is a rhapsody of salted caramel, tropical fruits, tangy orange marmalade, treacly toffee, hazelnuts and a hint of dry amontillado sherry. The pleasingly long finish exudes earthy spices, buttery caramel and demerara sugar.
The Glenrothes has been quietly creating some of Scotland’s most underrated malt whisky since 1879. This traditional Speyside distillery in Rothes still makes whisky the same way it did when it first opened. Famed for its use of Sherry-seasoned oak from Jerez in Spain, the whiskies are as pleasing and rounded as the signature bottles.
