91 points “High-register aromas of fresh and dried herbs green pepper plum pencil lead and black cherry lead to lighter-styled fruit flavours. (Very) far from a big bruiser it shows a pleasing sense of elegance and a mouth-watering quality seldom seen on this variety. It will sing at the dinner table.” – Wine Enthusiast
Walla Walla is located in the ‘Lower East’ corner of Washington State and they grow some sensational Cabernet Sauvignon there. Add a little Merlot Cabernet Franc Petit Verdot and some new French oak barrels and you have a gorgeous New World style and remarkable value for money. Expect classic crème de cassis black curry plum crumble dark chocolate vanilla Turkish delight dried herbs pepper silky tannins and a food-friendly acidity that’s longing to be paired with rich fatty and umami dishes. We love the buzzy energy and the freshness and we’ll definitely be cracking this one out at barbeques over the summer.
Gramercy Cellars was set up by a Manhattan-based Master Sommelier who fell in love with the wines of Washington State so packed it all in to make his own. Moving to Walla Walla in 2005 Greg Harrington and his family craft honest wines using grapes harvested from mostly organic old vines. Definitely one to watch.
