Our phenomenal and immensely experienced Wine Buyer Andrew Duncan has compiled a case of his favourite Bin Ends from our French range. These temptations are the last few bottles of outstanding vintages and rare wine each one offering pure drinking pleasure for those who like something from off the beaten track.

This carefully curated collection opens with three very different white wines. The first is Cuvée Laïs Blanc from Domaine Olivier Pithon in the Pyrenees-Orientales region. A favourite on the wine list at St. JOHN Restaurant in London this food-friendly white feels like it has been seasoned to perfection with white pepper and sea salt. Next up is the organic Au Creux du Nid Blanc from Domaine La Colombette an experimental winery near Béziers in Languedoc. We’ve long loved François Pugibet’s whites for their innovation (this one is made from Cabernet Blanc) wonderful aromatics and use of zero pesticides. And finally we have a unique wine from Domaine Horgelus located on the sunny hillsides of Gascony. La Valse des Mansengs is a blend that balances the acidity of Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng with the richness of Chardonnay. Expect notes of grapefruit apricot sorbet and pineapple.

Then we get to the reds. The first is an old-vine Minervois that was awarded 93 points by Decanter who described this unoaked offering as “deliciously easy-drinking yet concentrated and silky smooth”. Joining that you’ll discover a lovely red made by Jean Gardiés (the seventh generation of his family to make wine) in Roussillon. This blend of Grenache Syrah Carignan and Mourvèdre is one of our favourite winter warmers and great served with a Sunday roast. The last red comes from Corbières and was crafted by the revered estate Château Ollieux Romanis who also make our very own rouge and rosé. Juicy and dangerously drinkable we love to pull this one out of the rack for spicy dishes.

These are the last of these precious bottles and when they’re gone they’re gone.
