The California Wine Map Jigsaw Puzzle from Water & Wines is a stunning and colourful hand-drawn map puzzle that highlights California’s key wine-producing regions main grape varieties and star appellations. It also includes grape profiles describing their aromas characteristics and food matches.
The Harvey Nichols Premium Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon 4% Petit Verdot 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec made by the legendary Joseph Phelps. A sizeable chunk of the grapes are declassified fruit from Insignia 2017 (a wine that retails for more than £250 a bottle and was awarded 96 points by Decanter Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate James Suckling and Jeb Dunnuck). With its sublimely bold combination of lush crème de cassis blackberries red cherry cranberry pomegranate dark chocolate graphite and savoury spices you’ll be California dreaming down to the last drop. Joseph Phelps took over his father’s construction business in the 1960s. The company secured a contract to build a winery in Napa Valley and he promptly fell in love with the region. In the early-1970s he bought a cattle ranch near St Helena and began planting vines. In 1974 he and his winemaker Walter Schug created the iconic Insignia – California’s first proprietary Bordeaux-style blend. This wine changed the course of American wine forever. Today Joseph Phelps farms more than 170 hectares of vines over nine estates and unlike many of its contemporaries of that 1976 Judgement of Paris era it remains family owned.
