A vegan red lipstick refill formulated with Hourglass’ patent-pending replacement for carmine – the industry’s standard red pigment produced from crushed female insects. This award-winning shade uses the innovative ingredient Red 0 to deliver a saturated true red hue with animal-friendly pigments that do not compromise performance. Designed to be used with the sleek refillable Confession applicator Red 0 symbolizes Hourglass’ ongoing commitment to animal welfare: zero animal by-products zero insects harmed.
Hourglass wanted to create a vegan replacement for carmine a centuries-old pigment still used in most colour cosmetics. Derived from female crushed insects carmine has a hue that is difficult to capture by other means. Finding a comparable substitute was one of Hourglass’ greatest challenges in the transition to vegan ingredients. After many attempts collaborating with partners at Unilever Hourglass were able to replicate the same vibrancy with Red 0.
This award-winning formula has won the ELLE US Future of Beauty 2021 in the Makeup category and the PETA 2021 Libby Awards for Favourite Vegan Lip Product.

Twist ultra slim lipstick to reveal product and apply. Retract product down before recapping.
HOW TO REFILL CONFESSION LIPSTICK
1. Hold pointed end of the applicator remove cap and pull out lipstick barrel.
2. Remove cap of refill shade firmly pull lipstick barrel out from the cylindrical base. Reconnect refill cap and base with remaining lipstick from Step 1.
3. Hold pointed end of the applicator and insert new refill shade into opening until it clicks into place. Secure applicator cap after each use.
