Johnnie Walker Blue Label from the future!

To celebrate 200 years of Johnnie Walker the iconic brand has collaborated with renowned digital artist Luke Halls. Together they’ve created a collection of limited-edition Blue Label bottle designs that re-imagine some of the world’s greatest cities in the year 2220. This one is ‘London’ home to our flagship store in Knightsbridge. The skyline now looks like something out of Blade Runner with a monorail flying over the Gherkin space-age crafts nipping under Tower Bridge and Big Ben dwarfed by modern skyscrapers and flashes of neon. The bottle also features a unique code and a near-field communication chip (a first for Johnnie Walker) which provide the owner with an immersive digital experience. We told you that it was futuristic. Luckily amidst all this innovation the liquid inside is still the classic Blue Label that we all know and love…

97 points “Magnificently powerful and intense… Close to perfection.” – Whisky Advocate

Johnnie Walker’s Blue Label is nothing short of legendary and now it’s available in this limited-edition 200th Anniversary Edition. Blue Label is inspired by Alexander Walker’s 1867 Old Highland Whisky and it has become one of the most iconic spirits in the world. Renowned for its balance smoothness and expert blending it’s crafted using some of the rarest casks from Speyside and Highland distilleries such as Cardhu Clynelish Benrinnes and others that are no longer in service plus a splash or two from Islay for that signature bonfire smoke.

Pouring a generous measure into one of these elegant tumblers we discovered cigar smoke rose-scented baklava vanilla pods runny honey pencil shavings apple pie praline marmalade milk chocolate caramels banoffee dry Christmas spices and a raisiny quality reminiscent of Madeira. It’s impossible to disagree with Whisky Advocate’s assessment it really is close to perfection.

The Johnnie Walker story starts as you might expect with John Walker who opened a grocer’s shop in Kilmarnock. A lover of whisky he began by blending together the single malts that he stocked. Although the brand that bears his name has the tagline “Keep Walking” it has done much more than that. It has marched through history blazing a trail for Blended Scotch like no other. The name is now synonymous with whisky and attracts many who try to emulate it but few come close.
