“Great value and food-friendly: try it with roast chicken.” – Decanter Magazine
This Leyda Valley Pinot Noir takes its name from Hippocampus kuda better known as the common seahorse. Like its namesake it’s unique delicate and completely mesmerising. Matured in French oak for a year Kuda Pinot Noir sends tumbling waves of black cherry blackberry raspberry vanilla and peppery spice over the taste buds. Intense but with an elegant breeziness this might just be our favourite new summer red. Pinot Noir with such a remarkable quality-price ratio is rare. The previous vintage was awarded a ‘VGV’ rating by Jancis Robinson denoting ‘very good value’ mirroring the review from Decanter for the 2018.
Crafted by the highly respected Ventisquero Wine Estate Kalfu is a range of cool climate wines stretching along 600 miles of coastline south of the Atacama Desert. Kalfu means ‘blue’ in the language of the Mapuche – the indigenous people of southern Chile. The name is a reference to the omnipresence of the Pacific Ocean but also to the vastness of blue sky that wraps itself over Chile’s majestic landscape. The wines pay homage to the power of the sea and somehow seem to encapsulate the airy freshness freedom and joy of being in the great outdoors.
