The rolling vineyards of Monterey are cooled by brisk breezes from the ocean creating a windswept and wild setting. However the wines are the complete opposite: restrained and full of finesse. La Crema pick the grapes at night when things are nice and crisp capturing all the pomegranate cranberry plum raspberry wild strawberry rhubarb blood orange tarragon and wild mushroom notes. The wine is then matured in French oak for nine months imparting toasty barrel spices and softening the crunchy acidity. The result is a fresh midweek red that will go with almost anything you care to serve it alongside.
Established in 1979 this family-owned and operated winery has over the last 40 years become the cream of the crop. Fittingly called La Crema they focus on cool-climate appellations and creating elegant easy-drinking wines. Hailing from California it’s hard not to draw comparison with The Beach Boys La Crema has that same polished classic charm coupled with a breezy sense of fun.
