Metzger & Söhne brings the magic of Viennese Christmas markets into the home with this luxurious emerald green chocolate box. Encased within are 25 delectable Lebkuchen pralines; each are layered with Lebkuchen ‘honey cake’ and filled with marzipan, nuts or fruit jams and jellies, then enrobed in deliciously indulgent rich smooth chocolate. Founded in 1685 as a beeswax candle factory for the local pilgrimage church, the Metzer Lebkuchen quickly developed into a seal of quality for the Viennese Lebkuchen world. The original Lebkuchen has been made in the same way for centuries with a secret recipe made exclusively from pure Austrian bee honey, rye and wheat flour and raw sugar. The dough goes through a delicate and complex process where it is “cooked” and then stored with a maturation of up to 6 months, similar to that of wine or sourdough. This makes the original Lebkuchen naturally durable, soft and particularly juicy.
Metzger & Söhne pralines have also been made in the same way for centuries. Layers of soft Lebkuchen filled with delicate marzipan and natural fruit and nut fillings encased in chocolate. The pralines range from marzipan mixes: orange, pistachio or hazelnut to fruit jellies and jams
