Muga Rioja Reserva is an absolute classic from the highly regarded Bodegas Muga vineyard located in the Rioja region of Spain. Known for its traditional winemaking techniques using indigenous yeast, wooden vats and egg whites for fining, the high-quality wines Muga consistently produces, particularly the Rioja Reservas, are appreciated for their complexity, balance and ageing potential.

The Muga Rioja Reserva is a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano matured for 24 months in predominantly French oak followed by 12 months in bottle in the cellar before release. Expect rich and complex notes of black fruits interwoven with vanilla, spices, cedar and tobacco. The palate is full bodied and well-structured and offers flavours that mirror the aromas with additional nuances of liquorice, cocoa and leather. A sure-fire hit wherever it is served but never more so than with rich stews, casseroles, hotpots and aged cheeses. The Rioja Reserva stands out as a prime example of traditional Rioja winemaking and with its balance of fruit, oak and tannins along with its ability to age gracefully, this duo set will make a rich and rewarding gift for anyone lucky enough to receive.

Muga was founded by Isaac Muga Martínez and his wife Auro Caño in 1932 and is today one of Rioja’s most iconic names. Based in the Alta sub-area of Rioja, the wines produced by Muga are traditional in style and are typically stylish, refined and aged for a long period in oak barrels.
