Penfolds has launched a new range of wines in partnership with Human Made founder, NIGO, to celebrate the idea of “oneness”. One by Penfolds celebrates what makes us all different and unique, but also the things that bring us together. The collection comes from the three different regions where Penfolds' wine is sourced around the world – USA, France and Australia – and these bottles each have their own distinctive animal motif on the label, so they are instantly recognisable. The personality of the wine is unmistakably Penfolds with each of them focusing on medium bodied, vibrant and aromatic characteristics.
One by Penfolds Chardonnay offers an array of summer fruits, white peach and nectarine on the nose before evolving into poached loquats, persimmon and golden delicious apples, all with an undercurrent of citrus. The complex layers and expressive character delivers as much on the nose as it does on the palate where we see pear, apple and frangipane delight with honeyed ice cream richly lingering on the finish.
Penfolds is certainly Australia’s and possibly one of the world’s most iconic wine producers. Established in 1844, it boasts an enviable history that most wineries in the Old World would give their right arm for. Most famous for its flagship wine Penfolds Grange which is the very definition of Australian fine wine and the 1955 vintage was even described by Wine Spectator as one of the “Wines of the Century”. Penfolds owe much of their success to Max Schubert, their winemaker, who travelled to Europe after World War II and came back with all kinds of secrets. His innovative often multi-regional blends have become part of the DNA of Penfolds and now the wines are the choice of connoisseurs and collectors all over the world.
