Winston Churchill’s favourite Champagne house was founded in 1849 by Pol Roger, who from the very start favoured a dry-styled Champagne, knowing it was the preference of the English palate. Ever since that time, the house has created wines of tremendous quality, class and balance. Produced in honour of one of its most distinguished devotees, Pol Roger Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill was released the first time in 1975 when the official grieving process was over, made in a style the house thought would most please Churchill.
Dominated by Pinot Noir, providing structure, breadth and robustness whilst Chardonnay contributes with its elegance and subtlety, Winston Churchill 2013 is composed exclusively of grapes sourced from Grand Cru vineyards. Deep golden in colour this champagne offers a delicate nose of dried fruits, toasted almond and honey. Elegant yet still masculine, this full-bodied wine boasts a powerful and rich structure of citrus fruit and creamy notes of butter combined with rich fruitiness of plum, orange peel, baked apple and ripe pear.
