Bill Poon comes from a long line of chefs; his ancestors cooked for Chinese emperors. After working in Macau and Hong Kong and training with a Swiss pâtissière he and his wife Cecilia opened Poon’s Restaurant in 1973. It became an institution dominating the London Chinese dining scene for three decades gaining a Michelin Star and serving the likes of Barbara Streisand Mick Jagger Sean Connery and many other stars of stage and screen. Bill and Cecilia’s daughter Amy Poon worked in all her parents’ restaurants and soon followed in their entrepreneurial footsteps travelling the world and launching Singapore’s first Champagne bar. In 2018 she revived the much-loved brand with a critically acclaimed pop-up in Clerkenwell and then Poon’s Wontoneria in Portobello three years later. This ever-evolving food business is now back with a signature sauce range that delivers the Poon family’s modern Chinese pantry essentials straight into your kitchen.
