Can we start by saying that although this is called a ‘Festive Sharing Selection Chocolate Box’, the ‘sharing’ part is just a suggestion and is in no way mandatory.
We adore the lid of this new gift box. There’s just so much going on. What appears to be an adorable depiction of a Winter Wonderland at first glance, has some unusual additions on closer inspection. For example, the dinosaurs on the carousel, a massive polar bear on ice skates, a flying Hackney carriage and Father Christmas delivering presents in a double-decker bus. Maybe our eyes are deceiving us, but there also appears to be a tightrope walker on Tower Bridge and a fire on the rollercoaster. Strange things happen at a Prestat party during the holiday season!
Inside the box are nine fabulous fancies made using single origin couverture from the Ivory Coast. There’s a variety of praline, ganache and fondant fillings, all wrapped up in the finest dark, white and milk chocolate. Some are inspired by yuletide traditions, such as a gingerbread truffle dusted in feuilletine, a crunchy biscuit cake and a caramel snowball. But there’s also strawberry and gooseberry jam, lilac petals, Early Grey tea and lots of other innovative ingredients in the mix. Now you understand why we say that sharing is optional.
A big favourite of Roald Dahl and undoubtedly the inspiration for Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, London’s Prestat has been surprising and delighting since 1902. The founders created the original recipe for chocolate truffles in six years before the company was established, and they’ve been refining them ever since. That hard work earned Prestat a Royal Warrant.
