A truly niche brand with a very limited production, Smith Woodhouse is eagerly sought among Port connoisseurs. Dating back to 1784, Smith Woodhouse was founded by Christopher Smith, member of The British Parliament and Lord Mayor of London who started the small company to ship Port from the Douro Valley. He was later joined by the Woodhouse brothers who were already experienced importers which then led to the name the firm is known by today. In 1970 the Symington family acquired the house preserving the spirit of this boutique producer and leading to the release of some of the finest ports in the market.
The 2016 vintage concentration of the wine is exceptional. The wine suggests aromas of liquorices smoke raising prune and sweet spice. Elegant and incredibly complex this wine will accompany incredibly well with fruit cake chocolate or coffee-based desserts.
