In 1862 Louis Ernest Ladurée opened a bakery at 16 Rue Royale just on the edge of the Madeleine district of Paris. The surrounding area increasingly became the place to see and be seen attracting a who’s who of French luxury brands and a flock of Parisian high society. The café scene began to burgeon becoming more and more lavish which gave Louis’ wife Jeanne Souchard the idea to merge the Parisian café and pastry shop to form one of the city’s first tea rooms. The brand is now synonymous with macarons (invented by Louis’ grandson Pierre Desfontaines) innovative scents and flavours and the most indulgent tea experiences. Inextricably linked to the history of tea and beautiful shared moments the company was inspired to launch T by Ladurée dedicated to transforming the humble cuppa into an haute couture event and Beauté by Ladurée for those fashionable finishing flourishes.
