Dreamt up by the Frescobaldi family and Robert Mondavi and always a high scorer with the wine critics the Super-Tuscan Luce represents an immaculate blend of Montalcino’s savoury leathery and bloody Sangiovese with the soft fruitiness and density of Merlot. 2014 was slightly warmer than average so when Luce came out of its two-year slumber in oak it displayed a real elegance laced with blackcurrants blackberries cherries Chambord dark chocolate thyme and violets. Highly deserving of the 96 points and 95 points awarded to it by respected American critics James Suckling and Jeb Dunnuck.
