Hailing from the untouched forests and pure waters of the Southern Japanese Alps, stylistically Hakushu is a herbal, fresh and gently smoky expression and is a favourite of whisky connoisseurs, mixologists and lovers of gastronomy. This 12 Year Old expression is a multi-award winning release which uses a number of both lightly-peated and heavily-peated malts in its composition. Controlled and graceful in style, subtle, fresh herbal notes of basil, pine needle and cut grass are set against whispers of apple, pear, tea and smoke. Delicate and seamless on the palate, suggestions of exotic fruit, chocolate, coffee and oak come to the fore, and extend out to a lifted fresh finish that is persistent and evolving.
