Founded in 1949 Tullibardine might seem like a relative newcomer but their location in Blackford has a long illustrious and boozy history. The site near Gleneagles is thought to be that of a brewery at which King James IV bought a barrel of ale in 1488 making it one of the oldest public breweries in the land. It has been a succession of breweries and distilleries ever since. The Tullibardine distillery was designed by William Delmé-Evans the architect who also planned GlenAllachie and Isle of Jura. He knew a thing or two about finding the perfect water source as proven by the fact that Highland Spring bottle the same water Tullibardine take from Danny Burn to make their whisky. This rarely seen Scotch brand is now owned by a French company called Picard Vins & Spiritueux which maybe explains some of the wonderful wine casks deployed in this gift set.
