Throughout Champagne’s long and illustrious history consumers have customised their wine by adding their own personal touch. Veuve Clicquot has embraced this with the creation of Rich – a cuvée that can be enjoyed anytime anywhere. We recommend serving it in a large Pinot Noir glass with lots of ice then make your own embellishment. Maybe a twist of grapefruit a slice of cucumber a wedge of pineapple a sprinkle of cracked pink peppercorns or an infusion of tea?
As you would expect for a Champagne emerging from the LVMH stable this is powerful and stylish. They’ve upped the richness and roundness by increasing the proportion of Pinot Meunier. The blend is 45% Pinot Noir 40% Pinot Meunier and 15% Chardonnay. It was then finished with a dosage (the sweetness added at the end to balance the wine) of 60g/l which is six times the amount in the iconic Yellow Label and a little more than found in the Demi-Sec. The result is a rich fruity and playful twist on Veuve Clicquot’s creamy house style that allows you to toast your inner mixologist.
The history of this famous Champagne house dates back to 1772 when Philippe Clicquot founded a wine-making business under the name Clicquot. In 1810 this was renamed Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin after the young widow Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin inherited the estate. Ever in pursuit of excellence and innovation Madame Clicquot used her skills to develop an exceptional wine-growing territory and went on to establish what is today one of the most iconic names in Champagne. Veuve Clicquot’s signature style is a fine and elegant balance between freshness and complexity.
